Visit the National Sports Information Centre

Participants will be given a guided tour of the National Sport Information Centre - http://www.ausport.gov.au/information/nsic. The Centre holds a range of information resources on canoeing and other areas of sport and is one of Australia's greatest resources for coaches. The tour is at 3.15pm on Monday

Keynote speakers include Olympic coaches, Sports Science and Sports Medicine specialists from the Australian Institute of Sport

John Edwards

Domestic Development Director of CanoeKayak Canada since 1999. Responsible for the development of the sport of canoekayak in Canada. Chair of the ICF Canoeing for ALL committee since 2008. The committee oversees the ICF Paracanoeing program as well as other environmental and social issues for the ICF. Organizer of the 2008 ICF Montreal conference on Paddlers with a Disability. Member of the 1972 and 1976 Canadian Olympic Canoeing Teams

John will be presenting on developing Para-Canoeing programs and events.

John will also be running a classification workshop for anyone who wishes to compete in Para-Canoeing events.
The workshop is also important for people who wish to be involved as coaches, officials or volunteers in Para-Canoeing in understanding the categories and needs of the discipline.





Stefan Ulm

German Canoe Federation National Under 23 Coach

Competed internationally from 1997 to 2004 won two Olympic silvers in the K-4 1000 m event (2000, 2004) and won eight medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with five golds (K-4 500 m: 1998, 1999; K-4 1000 m: 1997, 1998, 2001), two silvers (K-4 1000 m: 1999, 2002), and a bronze (K-4 1000 m: 2003).

Topics covered include

  • How he coached Matt Goble the fastest australian over 200m and other great success stories
  • Setting the initial relationship; expectations, goals, rights and responsibilities from both sides
  • Ages at which various goals can be set
  • Developing the relationship – major steps in training and competition
  • Examples of major decisions taken in state national and Olympic campaigns
